Plumbing Permits
Permit requirements depend on your local jurisdiction — municipalities with more than 5,000 residents must adopt plumbing ordinances requiring them. We follow the plumbing licensing laws and board rules to keep our customers and communities safe.
Minor work is often exempt: repairing leaks, replacing lavatory or kitchen faucets, replacing ballcocks or water control valves, replacing garbage disposals, or replacing commodes typically do not require a permit unless your municipality specifies otherwise.

How It Works
- Permits are purchased by the Master Plumber overseeing the work
- A qualified licensed plumber, registered with the municipality, performs the work
- The plumber carries general liability insurance
- All permitted work is inspected by a qualified licensed plumbing inspector
If you reside in the property, you may be able to obtain a homeowner permit to perform the work yourself — check with your municipality.
